8 year old birthday parties are the best!

We all went to an 8 year old's birthday party this weekend and had a blast.  The adults had just as much of a wonderful time as the kids did.  The parents of the kids do inflatable rentals and had a 20' water slide for the party.  It was huge.  There were probably 15-20 kids, ranging from 2 to 15, and about the same number of adults and the slide was big enough for us all to never have to wait in line to slide down.    Anyone who wants to throw a great party should really consider this slide!   Maybe I can attach some pictures later, if I can get Aaron to send them to me :-) 

Some of the larger adults had an even longer ride than the rest of us.  Not only would they go down the slide and through the slip and slide they would get thrown off the end.  After watching a few of them, I think the other adults decided that would be their goal, but probably only one person under 200 pounds actually made it past the end.  

Needing Friends at the Park

What a great mother's day.  We started out be sleeping in a bit yesterday.  Then went to the main service at church .  Ian made me the most beautiful rainbow pasta necklace, that he was so proud of.  I wore it for the rest of the day, bragging about it to everyone I passed.  We followed up church with a subway sandwich picnic at the Anderson Point Park in Raleigh/Knightdale.  If you haven't been lucky enough to visit this park yet, you should really make time to do so.  It has the most beautiful picnic areas I have seen at any local park.  The playground is nice, with sand or the rubbery stuff everywhere.  It has lots of places for bike/skateboarding and lots of open spaces for football.  We (granny Sadie, Phillip, and myself) played dodgeball... it was quite the sight.  Logan had a great time being able to wonder around exploring without us having to keep such a close "leash" on him.  Ian on the other hand didn't have as great of a time.  He enjoyed the playground, but this is my child that would spend hours at the park by himself (if we would've allowed it) in pure bliss in the past.  He seemed to only truly be enjoying himself if he was playing with another child.  This is the first of this socializing that I have witnessed from him.  He actually seemed sort of "down" when having to play with the family or when one of his new friends had to leave the park.   I am concerned that this may be the beginning of him growing up, and I am kicking, screaming, and pouting about it.   On the reverse side of this, while watching TV yesterday evening Ian climbed up in my lap and sat and watched almost the entire Grey's Anatomy with me.

I have decided to eventually shutdown http://phillipandpaula.com and move to blogger. We'll see how it goes.
